How to Rebalance Postpartum Scalp Issues
After giving birth, many women experience postpartum hair loss, where they may lose more hair than usual. They may also experience excessive oiliness or dryness. This occurs due to hormonal changes that happen during pregnancy and after child birth. Elevated levels of estrogen will drop rapidly after childbirth. These hormonal changes can disrupt the balance of sebum production, causing the scalp to become oilier than
normal. Stress and sleep deprivation, which are common during the postpartum period, can also contribute to an oily scalp. Stress can stimulate the production of certain hormones that can affect sebum production, while lack of sleep can disrupt hormonal balance and lead to increased sebum production.

Let me introduce, REBALANCING Cleansing Treatment and REBALANCING Shampoo. This duo combo is a game changer to the moms with postpartum scalp oiliness.
These products are designed to help balance and soothe the scalp. One key ingredient in these products is phytoceuticals, which offer antioxidant protection, anti-inflammatory effects, nourishment and hydration, and hair growth stimulation. Other key ingredients include dandelion extract which can help nourish the hair and scalp. Alongside, echinacea to strengthen the hair and promote healthy growth, and salicylic acid, which can help to exfoliate the scalp and remove buildup that can contribute to scalp irritation and dandruff.
Davines recommends at home care treatment system to be conducted as so:
- Shock Treatment (3 times a week for 1 month): Cleanse with REBALANCING Cleansing Treatment, process 1-2 minutes, rinse, condition with most appropriate Naturaltech Conditioner and/or leave-on if needed.
- Intense Treatment (3 times a week for 1 month): Cleanse alternating between REBALANCING Cleansing Treatment and REBALANCING Shampoo, process 1-2 minutes, rinse, condition with most appropriate Naturaltech conditioner and/or leave-on if needed.
- Maintenance Treatment (twice a week for 2 months): Cleanse with REBALANCING Shampoo process 2-3 minutes, rinse, condition with most
appropriate Naturaltech conditioner and/or leave-on if needed.

As a 5 month postpartum mother, these two products have been wonderful for my hormonal imbalance. Over the last 2 weeks I have used both REBALANCING Cleansing Treatment in combination with REBALANCING Shampoo. In addition, I have been using REBALANCING Shampoo by itself. I wanted to know the difference with both products and how they changed the oiliness on my scalp. Personally, I got one
extra day between washes when I used them as a duo pair. As a consumer, getting both products is not completely necessary, but having them work as a dynamic duo is great for not having to wash my hair as often.
As a stylist, I would suggest getting the REBALANCING Shampoo if you have some oiliness to your scalp. On the other hand, if you wash your hair Monday morning and it is oily by Monday night, I would suggest getting both products and following Davines recommended at home care treatment system steps.
